Wholesome Tails Of Rescue Doggos Enjoying A Second Chance At Life

Adopting a rescue doggo is no small task, it can take years to get to a place where your dog fully trusts you and is able to flourish.  It can be emotional, and stressful, but also extremely rewarding. This requires going on a journey with your doggo, to gain his or her trust and any potential adopter needs to be mentally prepared for that. OP says they lucked out with their rescue and her amazing journey to health, but we tend to give OP a little credit as well, for providing her with the love and home the doggo needed to succeed!

Her skin was hanging off her very boney frame and her skin was bad. She's missing bits of her ears and was covered in scabs from fights.     Font - Jokes on them. Although she's from the streets and doesn't know commands, she sits, comes, stops and also goes potty when I need her to without me having to say anything. She's better than a lot of trained dogs. When l'm working or talking to customers in my shop, she sits at my side or naps quietly in her bed.     Font - She's gained 15 pounds with me and her coat is now very healthy. Her eyes are lively, her tail wags with so much energy and everybody compliments her on what a pretty and gentle-mannered dog she is. All of my dog-owning friends are very jealous. Trainers tell me their clients would be jealous. My mom told me not to get a dog and now she buys her toys. The rescue workers are extremely happy to see pictures of her progress and pictures of her sleeping without being scared.

The other small dogs ran up to us and wanted to play and were kind of crazy but we wanted a more mellow dog and ours was just kind of sunning herself and watching us.     Font - auntwest • 1d It's amazing, and kinda sad, how devoted and determined to be good a rescue dog is when they luck out with a great home. Rescue pups at adoption events can work a crowd with looks, paw shakes, and nosey up for a, "hello," with the skill of a sales pro. Some need a little help. Thanks for giving her a place to glow up.

I was concerned she would be bored senseless and need lots of attention when I couldn't give it to her. Nope. Mellowest dog I ever met. If she was any more mellow, she would be comatose. The dog I showed them would lay on her kennel bed and would only slowly get up when they stood at the kennel. She was already 11 years old and skinny. The previous owner has 2 terrier mix and they would steal her food and treats. I don't think I could find a better fit for her. She's not big on sit or gimme a paw. We took her home for 5 wonderful years together. We called her our gentle giant, rott-lab mix, and honestly she set the bar for every rescue we've had since.
